Post OTR..What to take with you when your assigned a trainer

Here is a list of suggested items to take with you while your with a trainer.

Training
1-2 weeks worth of clothes
pillow
sleeping bag or blanket and sheet
work boots
comfortable shoes
several black ink pens
6 inch ruler
white out
all employment info
drivers lisc and ssi card
small/med duffel or backpack to use as a shower bag
shower shoes (flip flops)
toiletries
OTC meds like pain reliever, rolaids, anti-diarehha meds
30 day supply of any prescription meds
spare glasses, contacts, etc.
copy of birth certificate or passport if going to run into canada
light jacket
heavy coat
ATM or debit card
voided check or deposit slip to set up direct deposit for payroll
motor carrier atlas. (if you cant get one before training just buy one while out with trainer)
work gloves
folder to keep all info in that you will get during orientation
battery or dual powered calculator

Remember you will be sharing the sleeper area with a trainer and it is his/her domain so you should be considerate of their belongings and space.

Be sure to take a copy of your school certificate, GPA and Entry Level Driver Training Certificate. You need the ELDT certificate for the first year of driving. If your school don't offer Entry Level Driver Training it is the carriers responsiability to administer the exan.

One thing that was not mentioned, A POSITIVE aditude and an open mind. Remember your first year ia always the hardest make it past that and it is smooth sailing.
