One of the best (and smallest) investments I made when I was on the road was one of those mini-truck stop books. Costs less than $5 and lists about 95% of truck stops out there, along with parking lot size and if they had a scale or not. A quick glance to decide where to stop for the night, or maybe a place to stop for lunch and I was good to go. Plus it's small and convenient. I always kept it clipped to my visor with a binder clip. I used to also have one of those big truck stop directories that list all the amenities and such of stops, but after a couple years I stopped buying those because I never used it. Prefered the little mini-guide.
