so i see we all agree on an endorsements type thing, so why can't the state committee agree on this. we gotta have endorsements for everything we pull.

53 foot? I was under the impression that most states have a single vehicle length of 45 foot. 53 would make my 31 foot look like a midget.

(Edit) I read something the other day that CA was/is requiring some sort of an endorsement for RV's and the sort but can't find it now.

(edit) I just looked briefly at the CA DMV and found what I was looking for. Seems as they do require an endorsement for 45' "housecar" and fifth wheel trailers 10k not to exceed 15,000 pounds. Also have to have a "medical questionnaire" filled out. Recreational Vehicles and Trailers Handbook Table Of Contents

I always figured the rv'rs never had to do it because of the impact on tourism, I don't believe a 75 year old man should be driving a bus with a car behind it unless he and or she can prove they are fit to do so, and can prove they can handle the vehicle. The feds jump into my pocket every chance they get, why not the recreational people.

it isn't just in Canada. i've seen this in the states. guy driving his big ol' pickup with a 5th wheel travel trailer on the back and a couple of jet ski's on a trailer behind that!
and i would have to agree, i'd like to see the DMV require at least an endorsment for someone to pull a rec trailer or drive a big diesel pusher. they require it for motorcycles, why not the play toys?

I once saw a pick up truck pulling a set of wagons ( Yes Farm Hay Wagons ) loaded with stuff for the Carlisle auto show.He was getting Off the PA turnpike with a trooper right behind him with his lights flashing. So I guess he did get pulled over.Could you just imagine the wiggle these two must have had.

At first I did't think an endorsement was necesary but after reading the posts and thinking about it, that might not be a bad idea for some special endorsement for rec. travelers.
