I agree with you completely. *ubuntu is fantastic in the newest form.

The problem comes in when, in the rare occasion as you indicate, one must go to the command line. It scares the life and adventure out of most folk who have never seen one.

Personally, I started with computers back in 1977 and the now "ancient" Trash 80. I've done machine level programming, and still bash my knuckles when swinging a hammer.
