What you NEED to know...
Do any of these "schools" teach people to actually become a "Truck Driver"?
I learned a long time ago that anyone (me included) can drive a truck FORWARD. The fun started when I tried backing into Campbell Soup in Camden!
I mean, do these places teach loading, scaling, road etiquette, drop-n-hook, map reading, clutch-less shifting, countering fatigue, uphill/downhill techniques, blind-side backing.... And what ALL the controls actually do (Jake, tandem slider, etc)?
The list of stuff you need to know AFTER you "get" your CDL is endless!
I imagine the Schneider and Rhoel Acadamies teach this stuff and to me, that's where the nuts-and-bolts of truck driving BEGINS. I don't think ANYTHING can replace actual, on-the-job training...
I went to a "school" up here in NE and they didn't teach me squat about driving-only how to avoid cones and white lines!
